I am about to start this embark on this journey myself.

I am looking at flac as my file format.

Rio puts out a mobile player that supports this, there are also several component players.

I am really considering just building my own with a mini-itx setup. Cost will probably be a little over $150. This will not be exactly portable, however I am just looking for a wireless network music player.

This kind of stems from discussion a few weeks ago with reference to playing mp3 over the home stereo system, with computer being upstairs. Everything commercial out there wants to utilize a closed source server. I figured why can't I just build my own...

Peace
