Can you record HD content: Not in HD, sorry.
I have Comcast basic service (analog only). I can't stand the thought
of paying rediculous prices for digital content especially with HD
OTA rolling out.
Correction: there ARE HD Tivos available. Specifically I know of one
the HR10-250 DirecTV with TiVo
"DirecTV HD TiVos contain 2 DirecTV SD/HD/OTA tuners (a total of 3
coax
inputs) which can receive/record standard definition and high
definition
programming from DirecTV as well as local digital/HDTV broadcasts
brought
in by an antenna."
I believe there are others, but I do not know off the top of my
head...
The Motorola HD-DVR set top box used by both Comcast and Urban Cable
in Phila have dual HD tuners and recorders. I forget if they have one
80GB drive or two.
From what I understand, the HD capable Tivos are significantly more
expensive than the older models.
I know very little about Comcast as I'm in Urban Cable (Time Warner)
territory in University City, but the DVR is "free" when you upgrade
to the HD programming tier.
The Motorola box also has DVI and Firewire output capabilities.
