I moved from Bensalem to Bowie MD in March of last year and set up for
FIOS installation at the house I moved into. Ordered installation for
TV and Internet ahead of time and got it shortly after I moved.
Didn't know much about FIOS at the time and didnt insist the installer
configure Internet for the Ethernet port. Actiontec router used MOCA
for Internet for many months and after new colleagues at my new job
got FIOS (Internet only) I did the researching necessary to see about
switching Internet service over to the Ethernet port. With Actiontec
router, 15/15 was pretty solid, though I was experiencing denial of
service whenever the NAT table filled up. With a solid understanding
of what I needed done, I finally got up the energy to call Verizon and
after three calls finally got a tech to do what I wanted and got
switched over. Internet is more solid now and I am in the clear to
learn and use other firewall devices. I can now also truly use a
Snort box and a network tap to analyze all the ingress and egress
traffic of my network. Life is good.
