I've since learned that 9.10 LPIA was an atrocity, and LPIA is dropped entirely for 10.04: http://lists.netisland.net/archives/plug/plug-2010-02/msg00075.html So my problem manifested more with apt/aptitude than RO files systems, though IIRC I had those too. I suspect my problems were: a) 9.10 LPIA b) ext4 (possibly related to SSD) or c) both. Maybe these threads will help? http://lists.netisland.net/archives/plug/plug-2009-10/msg00177.html http://lists.netisland.net/archives/plug/plug-2009-10/msg00180.html http://lists.netisland.net/archives/plug/plug-2009-10/msg00244.html http://lists.netisland.net/archives/plug/plug-2009-10/msg00264.html Good luck, JP ----------------------------|:::======|------------------------------- JP Vossen, CISSP |:::======| http://bashcookbook.com/ My Account, My Opinions |=========| http://www.jpsdomain.org/ ----------------------------|=========|------------------------------- "Microsoft Tax" = the additional hardware & yearly fees for the add-on software required to protect Windows from its own poorly designed and implemented self, while the overhead incidentally flattens Moore's Law. ___________________________________________________________________________ Philadelphia Linux Users Group -- http://www.phillylinux.org Announcements - http://lists.phillylinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug-announce General Discussion -- http://lists.phillylinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug
