I use Gandi.net. A french, independent, company. My law professor back in
college was friend of the funders, so I looked into it and they got me at "No
Bullshit". http://www.gandi.net/no-bullshit
I've been with them since 2005, and always been very happy with the service,
and with their constant fight against the giant rip-off that ICANN is (and
how to protect from it).
If you want a registrar that's FOSS compliant, Gandi's the one.
