Your config is identical to how I used to do things.  I got an email
from Verizon indicating that they would be disabling
outgoing.verizon.net later this year, so I switched to
smtp.verizon.net, which is limited to ssl and thus requires stunnel.

Things worked fine with your config though - at least for now.  I'll
probably tolerate the delays before switching back, because it is just
one more thing to deal with if they pull the plug.

I also do not touch incoming Verizon email.
