Walt, If you work for a large organization your option may be Horizon View which has supported Linux for the last few years. But that is an Enterprise solution requiring a connection server, security server, AD integration, on top of vCenter. Local connections use Horizon View Client ( available for Linux ) or Chrome Browser which doesn't work so well with Linux remote desktops. Multi-monitor even worked. I have an Ubuntu 18.04 VM working great in my Home Lab. I joined it to AD domain, and switched to lightDM display manager to support View, then added the view agent.
