Assuming the tracking we're talking about is operational telemetry
collected by the cars (regardless of whether that information is
exfiltrated):

Maybe they were 'fine' but the current ones are much, MUCH better. I'm
not saying they are cheaper (to buy or run), but I am saying they are
better!

Some of that 'better' is due to that telemetry being collected and fed
back into the real-time operational software that runs your
"computer-on-wheels".
