FWIW, I'm bad at diagrams, which is one reason I want to do them in code, but I have used the cross-platform Draw.io (now Diagrams.net) and found it simple. Dia looks like it might be better, but not quite as simple. Simple is good, for me. :-) Also, Draw.io is packaged and allowed on my $WORK machine, which is a big win there. Thanks for thinking about it, JP -- ------------------------------------------------------------------- JP Vossen, CISSP | http://www.jpsdomain.org/ | http://bashcookbook.com/___________________________________________________________________________Philadelphia Linux Users Group -- http://www.phillylinux.orgAnnouncements - http://lists.phillylinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug-announceGeneral Discussion -- http://lists.phillylinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug
Will C, showed me a webby, programmy kind of thingy for doing diagrams (really flowcharts) a couple of months ago called Mermaid (https://mermaid.live). Draw.io looks like it has much more going on so it probably wouldn't work for your needs. I don't like doing diagrams either but I'm ok with it at this point since its been infrequent. I completely understand wanting to do it programmatically- dammit Jim, I'm an engineer, not an artist. I find most drawing tools get in the way of how my brain works. For whatever reason, Dia seemed to be the one that got in my way the least. The thing that took me the longest to do with Dia was finding the right way to export a drawing so when I pulled it into Lyx, it looked good. Once that was solved I was good.
