All right. So I figured I'd try (at home) to get passphrases to work on my LAN. So I created keys on 2 stations on my (all Linux) LAN. I then copied the each of .ssh/identity.pub files to the other PC (in the other PCs .ssh directory) as authorized_keys. IOW ... I copied PC #1's identity.pub to PC #2/root/.ssh/authorized keys I copied PC #2's identity.pub to PC #1/root/.ssh/authorized_keys I then did (from PC #1) ssh IP-of-PC#2 -l turgon Never asked me for the passphrase; only the password of the user turgon. <GRRRR> I'm missing something simple, but what? -- ------------------------------------------------------------------ Michael J.
