Doh!  I should have read a little further in the thread before composing
my other reply.  In any case, you don't need to use floppies, just enter
"bf24" or "bf2.4" (I forget which it is, but the installer's help should
tell you) at the boot: prompt when you boot from the CD.

(I realized that I'm not sure I've ever installed woody with the
default, non-2.4 kernel.)
