[PLUG] Verizon Business DSL

Okay, so I made a decision this morning, a little undereducated and I'm hoping I don't get taken to town for it... hopefully you guys will have some supportive insight, but I'm not counting on it.

I have DirecTVDSL right now (formerly Telocity) at my house and run a linux-based server off of it and gateway the rest of my home through it. It has a static IP via dhcp and generally-good availability, and I've been quite happy with it.

So DirectTV decided that the DSL division was going to shut down as it wasn't profitable enough, and I was faced with the task of finding a new home for my machine whose services I've found I'd have trouble living without. After some research, it seemed like the only gig in town after DTV fell would be Verizon (Warrington, Bucks County... everyone around me gets great coverage from Covad and such, but not the 215-491 exchange).

Ugh, Verizon. But I didn't really have many other choices in the matter, so I bit the bullet this morning and got their entry-level business dsl for $25 more than my DTV dsl, as I need the static IP as far as I'm concerned. When they asked what OS I was running, I said Linux, and then realized when she asked if that was a Macintosh, that I needed a "better" answer and said I was running XP.

So when I get this modem from them, what should I expect? Ethernet output, or USB or something? Will the service run on PPPoE even though it's a static-IP based service?

Are DynamicDNS services sufficiently good these days that I wasted $50 over the discounted home rate by opting for the business plan?

Essentially, will I have to take advantage of their 30-day guarantee?

Thanks,
Jack
