I can't speak about verizon, but I just went with Speakeasy. So far it's great. Although it's a little expensive, I got a sys admin package - 2 static IPs and no restrictions on hosting server(s). As far as the equipment goes, i got a modem (bridged) that I plugged into a hub then into the machine. Works great- all ethernet. good luck. > Okay, so I made a decision this morning, a little undereducated and I'm > hoping I don't get taken to town for it... hopefully you guys will have > some supportive insight, but I'm not counting on it. > > I have DirecTVDSL right now (formerly Telocity) at my house and run a > linux-based server off of it and gateway the rest of my home through it. > > It has a static IP via dhcp and generally-good availability, and I've > been quite happy with it. > > So DirectTV decided that the DSL division was going to shut down as it > wasn't profitable enough, and I was faced with the task of finding a new > home for my machine whose services I've found I'd have trouble living > without.
