what i did was put a copy of the startxwin.bat batch file in c:\documents
and settings\$username\start menu\startup or whatever it is, comment out
the call to xterm in the file, and set the batch script to run minimized.
this way whenever i log in, x is already started without me having to
do anything.

this, combined with the rest of cygwin, and bb4win makes my mom's windows
machine almost usable :)
