Re: [PLUG] Domain Registrar recommendations - revisited

I recall an issue with GoDaddy if you renew inside of the 30 days before termination, I had to renew the domain to be able to transfer it. Insane BS. You might want to look into this.

Howdy,

        I second Gandi.net.  They're $15.50-$16 for the common tld's, and offer
a whole bunch more.  Their DNS/Domain controls are amazing.  It's easy
to add any kind of record you need.  If you're familiar with BIND, you
can switch to "Expert" edit mode and manually edit the zone file.  They
also use versioning for the zone files, so you can make an bunch of
changes ahead of time, but they don't take affect until you activate
that version. That also makes roll backs easier. :)

I'd advise against DreamHost.  I wasn't impressed with their DNS/Domain
controls.  Their hosting is bad and getting worse. While that might not
directly impact you, it is a sign of their general quality.  More
importantly, I've had serious problems with their support.
