Not really, since you're using PPPoE. (Incidentally, configuring
PPPoE correctly is no small feat, so don't get too stressed about
this.)

Do you have an internal DSL modem? An external one? A cat5 line
Verizon left hanging out of your wall plugged straight into your
ethernet jack?

My COVAD connection comes into an external modem, which plugs into
my hub, and my other computers plug into that and use normal
ethernet setup... PPPoE is a little more complicated, especially
since it seems to be doing the IP negotiations for you, so it
doesn't look like you are running pump, though maybe you still need
to.
