There could be routing issues with gettng traffic from the dial up users to the name server and back. There could be some other failure. I've seen this happen before with comcast. They have outages where their DNS boxes are unreachable, but I can still get out via my caching server. Sometimes I get a dhcp lease but cant get out the default gateway. In order to diagnose the problem, support must first LISTEN TO YOU. Not rush to get you off the phone and out of their queue. None of those problems mean its on my end. None of those problems have ever been publicly admited to, but that doesnt mean that it didnt happen at the same time to myself and others in my neighborhood. Often times tech support takes the stance that the users are all clueless. Or that their network is perfect. I dont even bother to call about sporadic outages anymore. By the time I need to call in to complain about service, its time for a new provider. All of these companies have prooven over and over again that they dont care. They're out to make $$, not pander to a couple of picky geeks that phone them up everytime they cant get their pr0n. Never mind that there are legitimate reasons to be calling about paying for service you're not getting. Never mind that it could very well be their problem. If you call, you must be just whining. Either way, in my mind, some arrogant kid telling me that he cant help because I cant PROOVE that I didnt do anything illegal is unacceptable, unprofessional and uncalled for. I still stand by my recomendation to not do business with that sort of company. Attachment:
