To be fair, Apple's JVM implementation is actually pretty complete and solid (given the limitations of a non-preemptively tasked OS trying to run an "OS" (aka Java) designed for PMT systems) - though it's only a 1.x JVM. On the other hand, Mac OS X & it's Sun-based Java 2 implementation kicks some serious Java butt!! It really has the potential to be the best Java client platform out there! Java serves today as a great platform for server-based applications (ie. Servlets), because all of it's advantages can be put into play, while ignore the "run once, debug everywhere" problems that plagued it for client side use.Better just to remember that I have yet to see Java employed in *any* truly useful application (please, let's not get in a fight over this, folks), and laugh at the silly language. And then get sad, because if Sun had done Java right to begin with, it would be so much better...
